Day 1 Vienna
By private transfer you will get from Vienna International Airport to your hotel in Vienna. The price of your tour package already includes the 48 hour Vienna Card. With this card you enjoy more than 200 discounts in Vienna, at museums and sights, theaters and concerts, in shops, cafes, restaurants and also the “Heurige” wine taverns. But most importantly with this card you also enjoy unlimited free public transportation within Vienna. Even though your hotel is located in the City Center it is great to have the option to take the subway, a street-car or a public bus. On your first day in Vienna you may want to visit the Imperial Palace, for example, the “Hofburg Vienna”, the center of the former Habsburg Empire. The Palace was Sisi´s Imperial home and household, and the Imperial Apartments, the Sisi Museum and the Silver Collection can be visited here. At the Vienna Hofburg you also find the Spanish Riding School where you may want to watch a performance or join a practice session and also the Old Town Hall which is close by. In immediate walking distance of the Hofburg you will find the State Opera House, definitely one of the world’s most famous Opera Houses where the Vienna Opera Ball takes place every year. St. Stephen’s Cathedral is the seat of the Archbishop of Vienna and it is a “must see” as well as smaller churches like the “Universitatskirche” (Jesuits Church) and the “Peterskirche” (St. Peter’s Church).
Day 2 Vienna
Enjoy a full day of sightseeing in Vienna with your 48 hour Vienna Card. Maybe you want to visit the “Ringstrasse”, a circular road around the inner city districts of Vienna. In the 19th century the road was replacing the Old City Wall which had been built in the 13th century. Many of the buildings you find along this road, the Austrian Parliament Building or the University of Vienna the for example, were built around the 1850´s. You may want to visit Schonbrunn Palace and its beautiful Garden. Your Vienna Card covers the fare to get there; the subway station “Schonbrunn” (subway line U4) is very close to the entrance of Schonbrunn Palace, once the summer residence of the Habsburg family and home of Maria Theresa. The Rococo palace is one of the most important architectural, cultural and historical monuments in Austria and nowadays is one of the most visited sights in Vienna. It all started with the building of a mansion on hunting grounds in 1548 just outside of Vienna. The impressive Palace in its present form (it has 1,441 rooms!) was built and remodeled around the 1750s by Maria Theresa. Make sure to plan in some time for a visit of Schonbrunn Garden. There you also find the Neptune Fountain and Gloriette, which was designed to symbolize the glory of the Habsburg power.

The Dresden Elbe valley features a combination of landscape and culture which is crowned by the Pillnitz Palace and the centre of Dresden with its many monuments and parks. However, you are holding the extended version of the Card which also covers public transportation in the greater Berlin area, to Potsdam and to Oranienburg for example. If you are interested in the infamous history during WWII you may want to visit the Memorial and Museum Sachsenhausen, located just outside of Berlin. The Concentration Camp (“KZ”) in Oranienburg-Sachsenhausen was built as the role-model for many “KZ” in Germany and Central Europe. You will need about half a day for the trip to the Memorial Site (see Day 7 of our History Rail Tour “Fascination and Terror –Rise and Fall of the Third Reich” for more detailed information). Admission to Sachsenhausen is free and public transportation by rail/bus is covered by your Berlin and Potsdam Welcome Card.
Also worth a visit is the city of Potsdam, Capital of the State of Brandenburg. The city was built by the Prussian Kings within a lake area and with its many cultural landmarks, in particular the Palaces of Sanssouci located in midst beautiful parks, the city is definitely worth a visit. Rail to Potsdam as well as public transportation by tram and buses within the city of Potsdam are covered by your Berlin and Potsdam Welcome Card.
When you are back in Berlin: a nice way to see Berlin is by foot. First of all, let me say that we truly enjoyed our trip which was one that I had dreamed about for over 20 plus years. To see it come to fruition was a dream come true. We do appreciate your TOTAL commitment to making this dream a reality. When we ran into issues, your company was swift to react to our needs. The hotels in Venise and Naples were located in areas that could have been better, but over all were excellent. The only option that I would recommend would be to offer what we did and that was to take advantage of the “Hope-On, Hope Off” bus tours. This gives people who are not familiar with the area an excellent way to learn the city and to see places that they may want to visit such as Museums. The city passes were good once we learn how to use them to return to the museums, to places to eat and to city parks. Again, we want to thank you for your excellent service. We have been telling everyone how good your work was in helping us plan this trip, even to people that we met while we were on the trip. If we are able, we will be using your services again to make a trip back to Europe to visit places that we were not able to go this trip.
These folks are top-notch, helping us from the start to plan a custom itinerary for a Christmas Market tour in December. Our trip began with a major problem as a large snowstorm basically shut down all trains and planes in Munich. Not to worry, Thomas and his team worked diligently to rearrange our itinerary, checked in on us repeatedly to make sure things were going as well as can be expected. Their professionalism turned what could have been a disappointing trip into something we will remember.
This was our third trip using To-Europe to see German Christmas Markets. Hotel accommodations were excellent and always a short distance from the train stations. In Dresden there was a Christmas market right out the front door of our hotel! They were very responsive to several questions I had prior to our trip that made things very easy. Strongly recommend them if you’re planning a trip to see the Christmas markets in Germany!
You created a special itinerary for us, selected some great hotels, let us choose transportation methods and times…. Next time we are ready to travel we will go to you first!
Your communications were excellent and timely. Great job
This was an amazing experience. Each day full of surprises. Very well
Thought and executed. Thank you very much for all the great attention,
Great hotels. Great activities. Impecable. Thanks Thomas and all the team
Definitely we will repeat !!!
My son and I were thrilled with this tour. To-Europe’s arrangements were perfect. The hotels they chose were clean, comfortable and located within easy walking distance of the train stations. Breakfasts were excellent. We had no problems with train tickets, airport transportation or vouchers for passes for public transportation. I would not hesitate to recommend To-Europe to anyone looking to travel independently in Europe.
This was our first experience to travel to few countries by train and our trip was really nice. We had all the help and expertise on our side to arrange everything with any fault or any hiccups. As far as the hotels and train concerned was worth what we paid for and We do appreciate and thank Thomas, Michaela & Petra for their effort and their help to do everything to make us feel happy and comfy during our trip. Thank you!
TThis trip was meticulously put together and at no point were we stranded. We enjoyed the hotels we stayed in - close to all points which required public transportation - and all aspects of travel were beautifully taken care of. Thomas, Micheala and Petra outdid themselves. What was also highly commendable was the fulfillment of pre-trip commitments.
Will we use TO-EUROPE again - FOR SURE!!!! Keep up the awesome work.
Tour was round trip ex Dusseldorf and included Berlin, Dresden , Prague, Vienna, Salzburg, Munich , Nuremberg, Rothenburg and Heidelberg. Trouble free tour as a result of great organisation by TO EUROPE . Nothing to worry about , great hotels in easy walk locations. Extras re sightseeing well worth doing.
To-Europe set up a wonderful December Christmas Markets trip with no problems or issues. The train system operated on time, the hotels that To-Europe provided were near the train stations which were very easy to walk to. To-Europe provided transfers to get into the city centers where most of the Christmas Markets were located. The trip was very enjoyable. Thank you To-Europe for your great travel planning. We will be back for your travel planning.
Great vacation - went in December to visit all the Christmas Markets. The trip was well planned out and we did not have an issue with transportation or finding the hotels once we got off the trains - very close to the train stations and local transportation at each city.
Our 15 day customized Christmas season tour was perfect. It was our best trip ever. The arrangements were clear. We landed at Munich, printed all our rail tickets and hopped on the train and started our tour. Our hotels were all fantastic and within easy walking distance of the train stations. All directions were perfectly clear. It all exceded expectations, and was basically half the cost of river cruises. We give to-europe our highest recommendation.
Thomas & Michaela thank you so very much for all your professional planning and organizing our trip. We could not have done it without you. You provided us with many memorable moments, our hotels were superb, they were in the right location to the rail stations and of course to the tourists sites we wanted to see. The breakfasts in the hotels were absolutely awesome. Your organized excursions also provided us a wonderful insight to the cities we visited and enjoyed them immensely. We shall tell our friends about you. Thank you once again for a wonderful trip.
Dear Thomas and group, thank you so much for all the effort you all put in to make our trip perfect. All of the hotels were lovely, each one with different unique characteristics, and check-in was easy no matter how early we arrived. The train arrangements were very good. It's the first time we traveled around Europe by train and loved it. We appreciated all the maps, city information, and local vouchers for the trams, etc., in each city, making it so easy to plan our days.
As senior citizens we really enjoyed this mode of travel, everything taken care of, and all we had to do is show up in each city and see what it had to offer.
So we thank you for providing a unique and special holiday.
As a planner, I was hesitant to let a service plan our trip. But To-Europe.com was exceptional and took all my worries away. Everything was so well laid and out and ready for us. The hotels were incredible and just what we wanted. And the convenience - well we were steps away from each station, dropped our suitcases and off we went to explore Europe. The staff was so friendly. I would certainly suggest this company to others and will personally use again!
We could not have asked for anything better! The rail passes were waiting for us at the hotel. All the hotels which you arranged met and exceeded our expectations. We appreciated the walking, tour maps of Berlin as well as all the maps from the train stations to the hotels. The breakfasts included were absolutley fabulous! The airport to hotel transfers were on time. All the information we needed was provided by your company. Next time we will get first class rail passes. It was a perfect trip Berlin, Dresden, Prague and Vienna. We will definitely call you again for planning the next trip! thank you!!
