Day 1 Frankfurt
It only takes 11 minutes from the Airport local train station located below baggage claim in arrival Hall 1 of Frankfurt International Airport (FRA) to Frankfurt Central Station. The fare is covered by the “Frankfurt Card” which is already included in the price of the Romantic Road Coach tour package. Your hotel is located in short walking distance of Frankfurt Central Station. Although Frankfurt is not part of the Romantic Road, it still is an honorable location to start this Romantic Road Coach tour. Frankfurt is a very modern metropolis which nevertheless offers many historic sites such as the Romerberg (hill of the Romans) with its beautifully restored timber-framed houses, of course the Goethe Haus where the world famous poet once lived, the Paulskirche, symbol for democracy and freedom in Germany, “Alt-Sachsenhausen“, where in Schellgasse number 6 you will find Frankfurt’s oldest timber-framed house which was built around 1291, to name only a few of Frankfurt’s historic landmarks. The Frankfurt museum riverbank is one of the most important locations for museums in Germany and Europe. The exhibition buildings are lined up on both sides of the Main riverbank, several famous museums are to be found in the city centre. Visit the “Stadel“, the German Museum of Architecture as well as the Museum of Applied Art or the “Schirn Kunsthalle” to name only a very few. Don’t miss out on Frankfurt’s “Zeil“, a huge pedestrian zone where shopping is the name of the game. So, if you arrive early enough in Frankfurt, visiting this interesting metropolis is certainly worthwhile.
Day 2 Rothenburg ob der Tauber
Today you will board the Romantic Road Coach in front of Frankfurt Central Station. The bus will have a few photo stops along the way before you arrive in Rothenburg ob der Tauber around noon. The Bavarian medieval town is definitely a highlight along your Romantic Road tour. Your charming Hotel is located in the Old Town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber (within the City Wall). Taking a walk thru this charming little town is truly a journey back in time. Rothenburg ob der Tauber was once a powerful free imperial town and its monuments, landmarks and buildings still bear witness to these days. Marvel at the half-timbered buildings and on top of the historic town walls which are withstanding time since hundreds of years. Visit the town’s most famous spot, the Ploenlein square, probably the most photographed place in Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Also very interesting to see is the Spitalbastei Gate, created by Leonhard Weidmann, the latin inscription on the gate reading: ” Peace to those who enter, health to those who leave”. The Gothic St. James Church is the town’s most prominent church, here you can take a minute and relax in quietness while you enjoy the beauty of the famous Altar of the Holy Blood and the Twelve Apostles Altar. Rothenburg ob der Tauber also offers museums which are cultural highlights, such as the Christmas Museum (admission included) with an exhibition showing Christmas tradition in Germany, the Doll and Toy Museum where the history of playthings is shown, as well as the Crime Museum, where the visitor gets an insight into the law and especially its execution during the last 700 years. In the evening take an English-speaking tour with the Night-Watchman (included).
Day 3 Scenic trip along the Romantic Road towards Fussen
You still have all morning today to enjoy some more sightseeing in charming Rothenburg ob der Tauber before, in the early afternoon, the Romantic Road Coach will take you from Rothenburg ob der Tauber south the Romantic Road towards Munich. Again, you will enjoy some photo stops. The Romantic Road Coach will stop in the medieval towns of in Dinkelsbuhl and Nordlingen for example, the history and medieval character of both of these towns are similar to Rothenburg ob der Tauber. The bus will travel along the Romantic Road via Augsburg, Wieskirche, Steingaden until Fussen.
Day 4 Fussen
After Breakfast store your baggage and take a short bus ride to Hohenschwangau for a visit of Neuschwanstein Castle, another highlight of your Romantic Road Coach tour. The picture of Neuschwanstein is probably present in everybody’s mind and Neuschwanstein really seems to be taken out of a fairy tale. You will join an English-speaking guided tour through the Castle. The tour of the interior, the Throne Hall, the Hall of the Singers, the Grotto and all of the private rooms which were built for King Ludwig II, will make the picture perfect! After the tour of the inside make sure to take some time to explore the castle grounds. The view of Neuschwanstein from the bridge behind the castle is like no other! In the evening, take a short bus ride back to Fussen, pick up your baggage at your hotel and take the train from Fussen to Munich.
Day 5 Munich
The price of your tour already includes a ticket for unlimited free use of public transportation within Munich (also to Munich Int. Airport) as well as admission to many sights in Munich (Munich Residence and Residence Museum, Treasury, Cuvilliés-Theatre, Hall of Fame and Statue of Bavaria, Nymphenburg Palace and Park, Marstallmuseum, Museum of Nymphenburg Porcelain) and with your tour package you will also receive walking suggestions for a self-guided walking tour through Munich City Center. The tour will pass by the most famous Munich shopping streets (Kaufinger street and Neuhauser street) as well as by the “Viktualienmarkt”, a traditional farmers market (open every day except on Sundays). The tour will take you by the famous “Alois Dallmayr” luxury delicatessen and coffee store as well as to the Hofbrauhaus of course, probably the world’s most popular beer hall. This may be a great place to enjoy a hearty dinner and a fresh Mass of beer (one mug holds 33.8 US fl oz)!

CUSTOMIZED TOUR Dear Michaela, Just a short note to thank you for all the organizing you did for our trip through Eastern Europe. Here is a little feedback. All the trains we caught were comfortable, clean and a pleasant way to travel. We arrived in Dresden and the hotel Pullman Newa was comfortable and close to the station. Walking to the old town was easy and straightforward. The hotel room was comfortable and breakfast was good. The only strange thing was that there was no free wifi available for guests. We arrived in Prague and walked to the Liberty Hotel. So you can advise your clients that walking in itself wasn’t a problem but the cobbled streets made pulling suitcases rather difficult. We caught a taxi back to the station after our stay there. The hotel was a lovely choice and it was close to the old town and many of the attractions. The Royal Park Hotel in Budapest is close to the station.
We enjoyed the attractions in Budapest and used the “Hop on Hop off” buses. We arrived in Vienna and found the hotel easily. This was a lovely hotel too. The fact that they “produce “all their own power is amazing. The staff was friendly and helpful. The underground railway system was easy to use and it made getting around very easy. Innsbruck was magnificent and the hotel was lovely and once we had a local map we found it easy to get our bearings. It snowed while we were leaving Innsbruck in the train. Exciting for us coastal dwellers! The trip was lovely. The organization was superb – everything we asked for. We will recommend you and your company to anyone here who needs information and assistance with organizing a holiday in Europe.
Thank you once again and please thank Thomas, too for all the help you both gave us.
Kind regards, – Mario and Ilona B., South Africa
